550m pro-kart circuit
For our trip out we booked a team endurance
race at Amen corner. This format consisted
of 4 teams of 3 drivers with a Kart for
each team to share. Starting with a practise
session to get used to the track then
onto the qualifying and finally the race
itself.
Qualifying consisted of a 15 minute session
with each driver from every team getting
a chance to post a fast lap time, grid
positions for the start of the main race
are determined by the fastest lap times
in practice.

The pro circuit at Amen
consists of 8 bends, 5 of which can be
taken at full throttle if weather conditions
are in your favour. The other 3 bends
on the track you will need to brake for,
the most complex being turns 5 and 6 with
turn 2 proving to be best for overtaking
providing you get good speed through turn
1.
During the race each team
had to make at least 5 driver changes
over the 45 minute race period, at what
point you make the changes is determined
by your team. In this format the pit stops
are what can make or loose you your race,
as with having to make stops in any motorsport
tactics do come into play, if a driver
on your team is stuck behind another kart
unable to get past then the quickest option
is to make a driver change rather than
waste precious seconds behind a slower
driver.
The team that won on the
day had this sussed & were also very
quick on the track (bastards!!).
So it was 4th for our team,
but still we had a great time at Amen
corner.
